Understanding Migration: Data, Displacement and the Human Experience
Roscommon LAIT Team would like to warmly invite you to attend an upcoming talk entitled Understanding Migration: Data, Displacement and the Human Experience. This two-part talk will feature guest speakers Penelope Muteteli and Kiere Murphy on Thursday, 11 June at 11:00 a.m. It will take place in the Abbey Hotel in Roscommon Town.
We believe this session will be particularly beneficial for this network of integration support workers as it offers valuable insight into lived experiences and the broader systems that shape migration and integration nationally and internationally. Penelope Muteteli will speak about the human experience of forced migration, drawing on her personal journey of leaving Rwanda, as well as her current work with the World Health Organization supporting Palestinian communities. Her perspective will provide a powerful and personal understanding of displacement and resilience. Kiere Murphy will provide a policy-focused overview, covering asylum trends and frameworks. She will provide information about Ireland’s immigration flow, public attitudes and statistics that bring clarity to a topic that is often misunderstood. Together, these perspectives will support attendees in developing a deeper and more informed approach to working with migrant communities.
